MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education- A High School Diploma or GED.
Experience- No experience is necessary, prefer 1 year experience working in patient care.
Licenses & Certification - Must become CPI or similar certified within 60 days of employment. Current BLS certification or recertification within 60 days of hire. Current food handlers permit or be able to obtain within 60 days of hire. Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and be insurable.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology used in a health care facility.
- Ability to interact professionally with healthcare practitioners and patients.
- Knowledge of procedures for appointing and routing patients in a rehab setting.
- Ability to remain calm in potentially tense situations.
- Skills in organizing maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, clinic/hospital staff, and the general public.
- Ability to learn the requisition procedures, formats and protocols.
- Ability to utilize a personal computer and its applications in a Windows environment.
- Ability to maintain a confident, professional demeanor.
- Ability to work as a team member with other staff to achieve the goals and objectives of the program.
- Ability to follow Rehab/BHS guidelines, IHS guidelines and established Policies and Procedures.
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs advanced nonprofessional nursing work involving a variety of duties in a rehabilitation setting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a rehabilitation program. Occasional travel may be required in the performance of duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires the demands of rehabilitation program (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and moving). Must be able to life 50 pounds. Possibly driving a GSA vehicle as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:
- Knowledge of tribal beliefs and customs necessary to courteously and effectively communicate with clients and their families, Rehab/BHS staff, outside agencies, and the general public both orally and in writing.
- Alert nurse of any changes in patient’s condition
- Assists in the orientation of new patients into the rehabilitation program.
- Assists in the monitoring and documentation of patient participation, direction, behaviors, compliance with schedule and rules, and relapse prevention.
- Ensure confidentiality and participant protection procedures are appropriately maintained.
- Possible monitoring UA’s
- Confer with staff, therapist and nurse regarding client needs
- Regular attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Be able to work in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Complete required interagency and other necessary paperwork.
- Willingness to be a team player to ensure success
- Performs other duties as required.
