PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Addresses the duties and responsibilities that a large gifted population creates within a school or group of schools. The Regional Gifted Facilitator is the educational leader and advocate for gifted populations within the school setting. The position actively supports the assigned school(s) to ensure that a strong commitment to gifted education is evident. The position collaborates with appropriate individuals so that the educational needs of gifted students are appropriately addressed and in compliance with district/division procedures as well as applicable federal and state laws.


REQUIREMENTS:

1. Educational Level:
Bachelor's Degree in job related field

2. Certification/License:
Valid Georgia Teacher certification; GA endorsement in Gifted Education; valid GA driver's license

3. Experience:
Three years successful teaching experience in the area of Gifted Education.

4. Physical Activities:
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Written and oral communication; good organization and cooperative planning skills


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Acts as Gifted Facilitator for meetings as designated by administration for the purpose of legal compliance.
  • Administer developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing for student gifted eligibility.
  • Advise parents and teachers in proper gifted programming of students for the purpose of improving compliance, understanding and implementation of gifted courses and expectations.
  • Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations, student’s achievements, and developing methods of improvement.
  • Assists division and area teams, administration, and licensed staff with the effective implementation of federal, state and local gifted mandates, policies, procedures and philosophy for the purpose of legal compliance.
  • Assist in IEP/SST teams in the developmental and implementation of transition plans for the purpose of ensuring quality programs for state gifted identified students.
  • Assist and collaborate with teachers in long and short range planning and scheduling for the purpose of ensuring highly qualified gifted endorsed teachers are maintained.
  • Assist teachers in assessing student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  • Assists teachers with information on scientifically based gifted instruction, positive behavioral supports, and other effective classroom management techniques for the purpose of ensuring highly qualified gifted endorsed staff are maintained.
  • Assist teachers in adapting classroom work for the purpose of providing gifted identified students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans that extend, enrich, and adapt content to meet a variety of learning needs and styles.
  • Attends division and district meetings and trainings for the purpose of remaining knowledgeable with current gifted education regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in curriculum compacting, effective grouping practices, and the design of tiered assignments.
  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  • Effectively oversee the identification process and educational plans for state gifted identified students within the assigned region.
  • Effectively communicates division procedures and best practices for gifted education to site administration and staff through regular staff meetings for the purpose of providing services within established state and district guidelines and in compliance with related gifted education requirements.
  • Exhibits a strong commitment to improving academic and social achievement for gifted identified students by assisting in the development of comprehensive programs and services along the continuum for the purpose of increasing outcomes for gifted identified students.
  • Facilitate learning for gifted populations for the purpose of ensuring they are being served in the correct model of gifted education, in order to be in compliance with state and district requirements.
  • Facilitate professional development for the purpose of ensuring gifted identified students are being served in the correct model of gifted education, in order to be in compliance with state and district requirements.
  • Maintains confidentiality and organization of records through observable procedures consistent with division and site directives for the purpose of legal compliance.
  • Observes specific students/classrooms and makes recommendations by supporting, mentoring and modeling best practices gifted instructional strategies and techniques for the purpose of engaging students and assisting teachers to meet a wide variety of learning styles.
  • Oversee all required documentation for middle school gifted identified students: Student Contract, Parent Permission to Serve, Student Probation, Collaboration documentation, etc.
  • Oversee student placement into appropriate gifted courses.
  • Participate in placement meetings of gifted identified students for the purpose of determining the appropriate model for gifted services.
  • Provides ongoing communication with building administration, division, school and district personnel, as well as with parents, for the purpose of ensuring quality programs for gifted services.
  • Reviews Student Information System for accuracy of data for all division, district and state reporting for the purpose of legal compliance.
  • Works professionally with administrators, staff, parents, and community for the purpose of ensuring quality gifted education programs for gifted identified students.
