Join our Legacy  

Reporting to the maintenance supervisor, a maintenance mechanic/technician sets up, repairs, rebuilds and operates a variety of production equipment, maintenance equipment and tools. Manufactures, fabricates and requests parts for repair of machines, tools and maintains industrial machines by following company safety standards.

 

Your Contribution to Excellence 

  • The pay rate for this position is from $27.68 to $45.88- Pay will be based on experience.
  • Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair. 
  • Studies blueprints, schematics, sketches, machine parts or specifications to determine type, model and dimensions of parts required.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on metal stock surfaces, to cut and fabricate.
  • Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove and replace defective parts. 
  • Fabricates, welds or reproduces parts from various kinds of metal stock and electrical parts stock.  
  • Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction. 
  • Set up machines for operations (i.e., changeovers). 
  • Adjust machines to production specifications.       
  • Trouble shoots and repair machinery mechanically and electrically.
  • Visually inspects and test machinery and equipment. Communicates with operators for issues on equipment.  
  • Maintains and lubricates machines, tools and equipment.
  • May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic and electrical components of machines and equipment. 
  • Connects wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses, and splices wire and insulates wire with friction tape.
  • Stay after end of shift or come in early to setup equipment if necessary.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment malfunctions. 
  • Maintain work area in clean, neat, and orderly condition.
  • Meet all productivity and efficiency standards as outlined by management.   
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations, including active participation in the prompt identification and communication of safety hazards.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices.  
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed, with or without advance notice.
  • Must be able to work any shift and weekends as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What you Bring to the Table

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ability to work with tools and on a computer device to record work orders, etc. 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Read a tape measure. Basic operation of a computer.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 49 pounds (50 pounds and above require a team lift). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.
