Job Description
Essential Functions
Performs PIPS audit screens on trauma patient charts, creates timelines, and assists Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director in identification and tracking completion of performance improvement activities. Collaborates with EMS, transport agencies, and internal departments through reports and communications to improve documentation and patient care processes. Supports the Trauma Registry Coordinator in abstracting patient data according to guidelines for trauma inclusion set forth by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), SC DHEC, and the Regional Medical Center Trauma Program. Interacts with TQIP to receive benchmark data, measures the data against trauma program outcomes and provides such data to the trauma committees. Aids in preparation and attends trauma and hospital meetings as assigned. Prepares reports in preparation for the trauma surveys and participates in the surveys. Communicates with outside facilities and organizations for patient follow up data. Maintains the PI portions of the registry. Oversees maintenance, in collaboration with Trauma Registry Coordinator and Trauma Program Manager, of the EMS charting space. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by participating in statewide trauma registrar committees, meetings, and educational offerings and supports injury prevention projects as determined by Trauma Program Manager. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of five years’ work experience as a Registered Nurse in a Pediatric Critical Care, Cardiac and / or Surgery, or within the clinical specialty area. Experience in Performance Improvement (PI) programs and processes; ability to utilize data for program analysis; demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to collaboratively work with all disciplines. Excellent computer skills; Word, Excel, etc. Certification : Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required. Proof of current training in AED for health care providers. Some positions require a valid driver's license. Certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA) strongly encouraged.
