Job Description Summary

Perform CT scans on predominately outpatients at the Laurel Street Pavilion CT scanner. Able to start IVs and inject IV contrast. Proficient with computers and IT, able to process patient throughput on EPIC and other computer programs. Able to work efficiently in an outpatient setting.

Work Schedule: Day Shift (T/W/TH/F) 7:00-17:30

***$20K Sign on Bonus***

The Computed Tomography Technologist (CT) reports to the CT supervisor of CT and manager of radiology.
Under general supervision, the CT Technologist performs high quality CT examinations in accordance with
established protocols on patient populations ranging from neonate through geriatrics for interpretation by a
physician. Other duties as deemed necessary.
Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Registry &/or Certifications)
Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology and one year of radiologic experience. Must be
registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and licensed by the South Carolina
Radiation Quality Standards Association. Must be able to produce very high-quality special imaging with little
supervision. Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment. Must be familiar with age
specific criteria.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA)
BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for
Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Proactively maintains and renews ARRT, state license, BLS,
PPD, respirator fit test, and POC training.
Must obtain ARRT Computed Tomography Registration within 1 year of hire date.

(Frequent) Ability to reach in all directions. (Continuous) Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted.
(Infrequent) Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted. (Infrequent)
Ability to lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs. (Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent)
Examples include:
  • To transfer a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100
additional pounds, assistance will
be required from another healthcare worker.
  • 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet.
  • 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand.
Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and
recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between
colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
(Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with
correction. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
(Continuous) Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. (Continuous) Ability to work rotating shifts.

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology. Work Experience: 0-2 years of modality specific experience. Registration/Certifications: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). ARRT CT Registration required within 1 year in position. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
