Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, process, and embed tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the pathologist
- Perform microtomy, staining, and coverslipping with a strong focus on quality and consistency
- Partner with pathologists to support diagnostic workflows and special requests
- Ensure accurate and reliable results by strictly adhering to established quality control programs
- Conduct routine instrument checks and preventive maintenance in accordance with departmental policies
- Maintain detailed records, logs, and statistical data to meet regulatory and accreditation standards
- Train and mentor new employees and students on laboratory procedures and best practices
- Provide flexible support across shifts to ensure seamless lab operations
Additional Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Histotechnology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling at least two years
- Meets testing personnel qualifications as defined by CLIA (Title 42, Sec. 493.1489)
- ASCP HT (or equivalent) certification required
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
