Job Description Summary

As a member of the ambulatory pharmacotherapy team, you will be embedded in an endocrinology clinic alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals, with the primary responsibility of managing chronic endocrine conditions and providing comprehensive medication support for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and for patients with endocrine tumors.

Job Description

Purpose: The Clinical Specialists provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the inpatients and outpatients of the Medical University Hospitals and clinics.

Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (Include physical and mental demands of the position-attach demands checklist if necessary:

The position of Clinical Pharmacy Specialist requires a doctoral degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy.

Completion of a clinical pharmacy residency program: Two years of clinical or hospital pharmacy experience may substitute for the clinical pharmacy residency program.

Completion of a PGY1 residency required. Completion of a PGY2, equivalent experience, or board certification preferred.

SC Pharmacist License (or eligible for SC Pharmacist License)

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification: Must be BLS Certified within three months of hire date and maintain certification throughout employment.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Completion of a PGY1 residency required. Completion of a PGY2, equivalent experience, or board certification preferred.
