Stamping Department - Supervisor
Position Summary
Supervise a production department to ensure all products meet customer quality requirements and internal cost goals through effective scheduling, employee development, and continuous improvement practices.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Training
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate stamping operators, area leaders, and production runners.
- Ensure employees are properly trained in safety, machine setup, quality inspection, and continuous improvement methods.
- Enforce company policies, performance standards, and 5S practices.
Production & Efficiency
- Review daily production data for accuracy and address discrepancies with employees.
- Work with Production Controller and Manager to meet scheduling goals and achieve 100% of planned production hours.
- Monitor efficiency reports (OEE, part run rates) and take corrective actions to achieve targets.
Quality & Tooling Support
- Partner with Quality to ensure conformance to customer requirements.
- Request gauges and support updates to part production books and quality records.
- Collaborate with Tool Maintenance to track tooling repairs, review tool logs, and ensure timely return of tooling to production.
Continuous Improvement & Communication
- Analyze production data and share findings with Production Manager, Sales, and CI teams.
- Recommend process improvements to improve efficiency, product quality, and safety.
- Participate in CI and 5S team meetings.
Other Duties
- Perform other related tasks as assigned to meet operational needs.
- Exercise judgment, independence, and discretion in decision-making.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of punch presses and/or multislide equipment.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, quality requirements, and efficiency metrics.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Must be mobile within office and production areas; frequent standing, walking, and movement across the stamping floor.
- Requires lifting up to 25 lbs., bending, reaching, and manual dexterity.
- Exposure to manufacturing conditions: noise, dust, vibration, and metal particles.
- Requires use of PPE (hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, etc.).
- Role requires independence, judgment, and discretion while managing people and processes.
Schedule
- On-site, Monday–Friday
- May require overtime or Saturday work based on production needs
- Flexibility to support 1st, 2nd, or weekend shifts as needed
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
