What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer / Machinist position at Murrieta?
We are looking for a skilled CNC Programmer/Machinist to join our manufacturing team. You will program, set up, and run multi-axis machines, own process improvement, and help produce parts that perform in the most demanding environments.
We are a full-service Product Design & Development Manufacturing Provider. We deliver high-precision CNC machining (up to 5 axis) on alloys, CRES, and graphite to tolerances of ±5 μm.
Key Responsibilities
• Program, set up, and operate 3 - 5-axis CNC mills and multi-axis turning centers
• Create efficient, collision-free toolpaths using Mastercam, Hypermill or equivalent CAM software
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D models (SolidWorks / CREO / STEP / etc.)
• Select tooling, fixtures, and cutting strategies for exotic alloys, stainless, titanium, and high-performance materials
• Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks to aerospace/medical standards
• Optimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and continuously improve processes
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-first work environment
What You Bring
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on CNC programming and machining experience
• Proven expertise with 3- to 5-axis simultaneous machining
• Strong proficiency in CAM software (HyperMill & Mastercam preferred)
• Solid understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools
• Experience with tight-tolerance work (±0.0005" / ±13 μm or better preferred)
• Familiarity with aerospace, defense, medical, or high-reliability manufacturing environments is a strong plus
• Self-motivated, detail-obsessed, and proud of producing parts that others trust with their lives and missions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team
