Market Associate / Cook

Murray Hill Market is looking for a dependable, hands-on Cook / Market Associate who can move between the kitchen, deli counter, sandwich line, store floor, and catering as needed.

This role is a good fit for someone with food-service experience who is comfortable working with customers, preparing food, keeping the line stocked, helping with catering and meal prep, and making sure the store looks clean, fresh, and presentable throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Work the sandwich line, deli counter, register, and customer-facing areas as needed
• Assist customers, take orders, check people out, and represent the store in a friendly and helpful way
• Help keep the sandwich line, deli case, prepared foods, condiments, dressings, sauces, and service supplies stocked and clean
• Make sure the deli case and prepared foods areas look fresh, full, labeled, and presentable
• Assist in the kitchen with prep, daily specials, catering orders, meal plan production, and event needs
• Help prepare sandwiches, salads, hot foods, grab-and-go items, trays, boxed lunches, and other food items as needed
• Help pack, label, organize, and check catering or meal plan orders
• Restock grocery shelves, coolers, produce, paper goods, packaging, and customer areas as needed
• Clean and reset work areas throughout the day, especially behind the counter and after busy periods
• Communicate low-stock items, product issues, customer needs, or food-quality concerns to the manager or chef/manager
• Follow food safety, cleanliness, labeling, storage, and rotation standards
• Jump in where needed during busy periods, including kitchen, counter, register, stocking, cleaning, or catering support

Ideal Candidate

• Has prior food-service, kitchen, deli, café, catering, restaurant, or market experience
• Is comfortable both preparing food and interacting with customers
• Can work independently but also take direction well
• Has good attention to detail with food presentation, cleanliness, and stocking
• Is reliable, organized, friendly, and willing to help wherever needed
• Cares about food quality and doing things correctly
• Can stay calm and productive during busy service periods

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 30.0 per week
