Job Description
Murphy Tractor & Equipment Company, Inc. is one of John Deere’s largest construction equipment dealers with more than two-dozen locations across six states. We are in need of professional, knowledgeable and reliable Student Shop Maintenance Technicians. In this interactive and lucrative role, you will learn to work on some of John Deere’s most exciting equipment – performing diagnostic tests and determining what repairs are necessary to get these state-of-the-art machines running again for our customers!
We are seeking Students who are passionate about working with their hands as well as with our customers! You must be self-motivated and driven in this role. You will learn the knowledge of the materials, tools and techniques used in the repair of heavy construction equipment. Job Responsibilities
As a Student Shop Maintenance Technician, you will be an apprentice and learn to perform all levels of repair and preventative maintenance on malfunctioning vehicles and heavy equipment. You will also establish and maintain healthy relationships with customers, making sure to always deliver repairs on schedule.
Additional responsibilities for the Student Shop Maintenance Technician include learning to:
- Repair or replace damaged or worn parts
- Test recently repaired mechanical products
- Prepare reports and forms required in conjunction with work orders
- Maintain current knowledge of Company and competitor products
- Keep company vehicles, inventory, tools and other equipment in good condition
- Read and understand operating manuals as well as electrical and hydraulic schematics
Job Requirements
As a Student Shop Maintenance Technician for Murphy Tractor, you will learn to be well-versed in diagnostic procedures and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.. Furthermore, because this is a customer-facing position, you must have great interpersonal communication and customer-service skills.
Additional requirements of the Student Shop Maintenance Technician includes:
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and stand for an extended period of time
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn more
