Main Cook – Murphy's Cafe 126 (Herriman Location)

Starting Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour, depending on experience, skill level, and performance. Opportunities for advancement and performance-based raises are available.

Murphy's Cafe 126 is known for exceptional customer service and serving what many consider the #1 Philly Cheesesteaks in Utah. We're excited to be opening our new Herriman, Utah location in October 2026, and we're looking for experienced, dependable, and hardworking Main Cooks to become part of our leadership team in the kitchen.

All Main Cooks will begin paid training immediately at our Riverton location before transitioning to our brand-new Herriman restaurant when it opens.

Position Summary

As the Main Cook, you will play a vital role in delivering the quality and consistency that Murphy's Cafe is known for. You will be responsible for preparing food to company standards, leading by example in the kitchen, maintaining food safety and cleanliness, and ensuring every order is prepared accurately and efficiently.

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and understands that every meal represents our reputation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all menu items according to Murphy's Cafe recipes, procedures, and quality standards.
• Operate the flat-top grill, fryers, food preparation equipment, and kitchen tools safely and efficiently.
• Cook cheesesteaks, burgers, chicken, fries, and other menu items while maintaining speed and consistency.
• Ensure every order is prepared accurately and presented with pride.
• Maintain proper food temperatures, product rotation (FIFO), and portion control.
• Follow all HACCP, food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and stocked throughout each shift.
• Assist with daily food preparation, inventory, and receiving deliveries.
• Work closely with Shift Leaders and management to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
• Help train and mentor new kitchen team members.
• Maintain a positive attitude while working effectively under pressure during busy meal periods.
• Perform opening and closing kitchen duties, including equipment cleaning and station preparation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a line cook, grill cook, or restaurant cook is preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
