Job Summary

This role offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic, high-performing team managing complex offshore assets. You’ll contribute directly to the safety, integrity, and performance of Murphy’s deepwater operations while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

The Facility Engineer will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary onshore technical point of contact for assigned deepwater facility
• Provide day-to-day troubleshooting, surveillance, and technical support to offshore operations
• Monitor facility performance and identify opportunities to optimize production and reduce operating costs
• Support and lead facility modifications, debottlenecking efforts, and brownfield projects from concept through execution, including ownership of associated budgets and management of 3rd party engineering activities
• Collaborate with inspection, reliability, construction and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
• Assist maintenance teams with technical review of quotes for replacement equipment and parts
• Plan and schedule major facility maintenance and upgrade campaigns. Coordinate with both onshore and offshore staff during shutdowns, startups, and execution
• Support Management of Change (MoC), Safe Work Practices, and Process Safety processes
• Maintain accurate documentation of facility configurations, drawings, and technical records
  
  

Licenses/ Certifications

• Willing to attend and be able to pass HUET (Helicopter Underwater Egress Training)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably
  
  

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or other Engineering field
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in oil and gas industry, with experience in deepwater production facilities
• Working knowledge of process equipment, piping systems, pumps, compression, power generation, and utility systems
• Understanding of MoC, HAZOP, and risk assessment processes
• Familiarity with applicable industry standards (API, ASME, ABS, etc.) and regulatory requirements (BSEE, USCG)
• Ability to travel offshore as needed (occasional trips)

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
