Behavior Specialist for Youth in Foster Care
Position Details:
- Part-Time weekends and Evenings
- Department – Residential Foster Home for Youth in Foster Care
- Support Foster/house parents
- Care Coordinator
- Located in Richmond County or Newton/Rockdale County area
- Flexible schedule and works some week-ends
- Annual Compensation is $35,000 to $38,00
Responsibilities:
- Supervises children in the home or at school
- Participates in weekly treatment team meetings
- Transports children to appointments
- Documentation of appointments and crisis interventions
- To attempt to intervene early enough to prevent a physical altercation between residents
- To use de-escalation techniques
- All crises must be reported to the Program Manager or On-Call Supervisor and the Risk Manager
- Teaching of Life Skills to children and youth
- Teach socially acceptable behaviors to children and youth
- To attend all mandatory meetings
- To attend in-service training as required.
- Provide a safe, nurturing, caring atmosphere for youth who reside in the homes.
- Work within program policy and guidelines to provide program services.
- Demonstrates an understanding of child development relevant to the age group of the home worked in, demonstrates an understanding of the actual developmental levels of youth in the home, and intervenes to promote development and adjusts expectations by taking into account developmental understanding.
Qualifications:
- Child care experience
- HS diploma, college or associates degree
- Must be 25 years of age
- Has and will maintain a Georgia Driver’s license
Participates in 40 hours of initial training and 24 hours of training annually
Salary : $35,500 - $38,000
