A privately owned early childhood education program in Sacramento County is conducting a confidential search for a qualified Child Care Center Director. This individual will play a critical leadership role in preparing a newly licensed child care center for opening and ensuring ongoing compliance with California Community Care Licensing regulations.


The Director will oversee the day-to-day operation of the center, supervise teaching staff, maintain licensing compliance, support high-quality programming, and cultivate positive relationships with families and the community. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced early childhood leader who is passionate about building a strong program from the ground up.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated Child Care Center Director in accordance with California Community Care Licensing requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Title 22 regulations and Community Care Licensing requirements.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach, and evaluate teaching staff.
  • Maintain required staffing ratios and supervise daily program operations.
  • Support implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom environments.
  • Monitor the health, safety, and well-being of children at all times.
  • Maintain licensing records, personnel files, children's records, incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Prepare for licensing inspections and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with families through professional communication and positive relationships.
  • Collaborate with ownership regarding staffing, policies, training, enrollment, and program development.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and professional workplace culture.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet California Community Care Licensing qualifications to serve as a Child Care Center Director, including:

  • Qualification as a Child Care Center Director under California Community Care Licensing regulations.
  • At least 15 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, including coursework in:
  • Child Growth and Development
  • Child, Family, and Community
  • Curriculum
  • At least 3 semester units in Administration or Staff Relations.
  • A minimum of four years of teaching experience in a licensed early childhood education program.
  • Ability to provide documentation verifying education and qualifying experience for Community Care Licensing.
  • Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Health screening, TB clearance, and Department of Justice/Community Care Licensing background clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or higher.
  • Previous experience serving as a Child Care Center Director.
  • Experience working with Community Care Licensing inspections and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of California Early Learning Foundations, Desired Results, and developmentally appropriate practice.
  • Experience using Brightwheel or similar child care management software.
