Automotive Service Advisor / Writer

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor / Writer to join our fast-paced automotive service team. In this vital role, you will act as the primary point of contact between customers and our skilled technicians, ensuring a smooth and transparent service experience. Your expertise will help diagnose vehicle issues, recommend necessary repairs, and communicate effectively with customers to build trust and satisfaction. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine mechanical knowledge with exceptional customer service skills, contributing directly to the success of our dealership’s service department.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and listen carefully to their vehicle concerns to accurately identify service needs.
• Write detailed and accurate repair orders, including descriptions of symptoms, recommended repairs, and estimated costs using auto estimating tools.
• Communicate technical information clearly to customers, explaining necessary repairs such as transmissions, brake repair, suspension, tire service, oil changes, alignments, shocks & struts, etc.
• Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of services while maintaining high quality standards.
• Upsell additional services or maintenance based on vehicle diagnostics and mechanical knowledge to enhance customer safety and vehicle performance.
• Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed records of all service work performed.
• Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and foster long-term relationships.

Skills

• Proven dealership experience with a strong understanding of automotive diagnostics and repair procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of automotive systems including transmissions, brakes, suspensions, alignments, oil changes, tire services, and more.
• Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in auto estimating software and automotive service management systems.
• Experience in upselling services while maintaining integrity and transparency with customers.
• Mechanical experience or background as a service technician is highly desirable for better understanding of repair processes.
• Strong sales skills combined with cash handling experience to manage transactions confidently.
