The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for the management of import shipments from suppliers for the Georgia warehouse, the West Coast warehouse, and directly from supplier to customer.
Hybrid from Rockmart, GA or Atlanta GA
- Coordinate the movement and documentation of inbound air and boat shipments, directing shipments from suppliers to customers.
- Arrange customs clearance, exchange and review necessary documents with our brokers, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Communicate with sales, customer service, warehouses, brokers, freight forwarders, etc. to provide shipment visibility and maintain smooth movement of shipments.
- Work in various freight forwarder visibility systems, Murata ERP software, and document management systems to track, monitor status, and upload or download various shipment and billing documents.
- Freight data maintenance and freight reporting.
- Accounts payable - audit the accuracy of shipping and billing documents provided by shippers, brokers, and forwarders. Approve invoices for payment and resolve freight, customs, as well as billing errors.
- Freight bidding, spot freight quotes, and freight forwarder selection.
- Cultivate relationships with freight forwarders, including onboarding and day-to-day communication.
- Continuous evaluation and improvement of job processes.
- Perform other job-related responsibilities and duties as may be assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3 years' work experience related to imports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication as well as analytical skills.
- Work with little supervision and be able to handle stressful situations well.
- Strong sense of urgency and proactive approach.
- Data entry skills utilizing accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong time management and task prioritization skills.
- Experience using widely used software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience with data analysis, Business Intelligence (BI), or other query software.
