PLC Systems Integration Engineer (Siemens TIA Portal)

Picture your morning at 7:00 am in Apple Grove, WV. You badge in, open a blank TIA Portal project, and begin shaping the control logic that will drive a brand-new production line for a global metals and industrial automation leader. By late afternoon, your code is talking to real hardware, I/O is verified, loops are tuned, and the HMI is telling a clear story of the process you brought to life.

• Author PLC programs from the ground up using ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text guided by control narratives and process needs.
• Build out I/O maps, data structures, and program architecture for new control systems.
• Develop and connect HMI/SCADA screens with PLC tags and databases.
• Commission your code on-site: execute I/O checkout, test sequences, and perform loop tuning and debugging.
• Interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and panel layouts to ensure accurate design and implementation.
• Partner with electricians and controls technicians on wiring, sensor installation, and panel integration.
• Independently troubleshoot control-system issues in the field.
• Practice Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and follow NEC/IEC electrical safety protocols.
• Document logic, I/O lists, and system architecture for smooth handoff.

• Primary: Siemens Step 7 / TIA Portal (S7-300/400/1200/1500).
• Also welcome: Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000 and other major platforms (Omron, Mitsubishi, Schneider).

• 3 years creating PLC programs from scratch (beyond edits or maintenance).
• Hands-on, professional experience in Siemens Step 7 / TIA Portal (strongly preferred).
• Proficiency reading P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and panel schematics.
• Working knowledge of I/O wiring, control panels, and NEC/IEC standards.

• HMI/SCADA development (Siemens WinCC, Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk/PanelView, or similar).
• Experience with Profibus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, and DeviceNet.
• Motion control, VFDs/drives, and safety PLC programming.
• Background in heavy manufacturing or large industrial builds.
• PLC cabinet assembly and field device troubleshooting.

• Pay: $50–$55/hour (DOE)
• Per Diem: $120/day for hotel and meals
• Schedule: 40 hours/week with overtime potential
• Shift: 1st shift, 7:00 am – 4:30 pm
