HVAC Service Technician

Job Overview

Mural Industrial Staffing is seeking an HVAC Service Technician on behalf of a well-established residential and light commercial heating and air conditioning provider serving the York, Nebraska area.

This role is focused primarily on residential HVAC service, maintenance, and diagnostics, with occasional exposure to light commercial systems. The technician will be responsible for running service calls, troubleshooting equipment issues, and delivering high-quality customer experiences in the field.

This is an ideal opportunity for technicians who enjoy independent field work, problem-solving, and working directly with homeowners, while also having the ability to earn additional income through performance-based incentives.

Service Area & Work Structure

• Service territory: 30-minute radius around York, Nebraska
• Primarily residential service (approx. 80%), with light commercial support
• Daily schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM with 1-hour lunch
• Day begins at the shop; take-home vehicle eligibility after tenure
• On-call rotation: 1 week per month (emergency service coverage)

Compensation Structure

• Base hourly rate: $25.00 – $35.00/hour (based on experience and diagnostic ability)
• Overtime: 1.5x hourly rate
• On-call pay: Time and a half for emergency calls
• Holiday pay: 2x hourly rate

Performance Incentives:

• 1% of all service work completed
• 10% commission on work the technician identifies and helps secure

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and service residential HVAC systems including furnaces and air conditioners
• Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections
• Troubleshoot system issues and identify root causes of failures
• Communicate findings and recommended solutions clearly to customers
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and parts used
• Identify opportunities for additional service or replacement work
• Occasionally assist with light commercial HVAC service and rooftop-related work
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and professional manner
• Represent the company professionally in customer homes and job sites

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on HVAC service experience
• Experience performing maintenance, repairs, and basic diagnostics on residential HVAC systems
• Ability to run service calls with a reasonable level of independence
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and mechanical aptitude
• Comfortable working directly with customers in residential environments
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
• EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong diagnostic experience with residential HVAC systems
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex service issues
• Experience with light commercial HVAC systems or rooftop units
• Experience identifying and communicating additional work opportunities to customers
• Strong communication skills and customer-facing professionalism
