SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Community Services Director, performs a variety of duties in support of the Municipality’s code enforcement and property maintenance programs. This position enforces applicable municipal ordinances, codes, and regulations related to zoning, property maintenance, health and safety, blight, and other matters of public concern.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and participate in code enforcement and property maintenance activities; prepare and maintain accurate records and files
- Conduct field inspections and investigations of properties to identify ordinance and code violations
- Prepare and issue notices of violation, citations, and related enforcement documentation
- Attend court hearings and provide testimony related to ordinance violations, as required
- Prepare weekly reports documenting inspection activity and violation status
- Schedule and conduct follow‑up inspections and compliance activities, including correspondence, phone calls, meetings, and site visits
- Maintain electronic and hard‑copy files of inspection reports, photographs, and supporting documentation for reporting and court purposes
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with municipal staff, property owners, tenants, and the general public
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of zoning, property maintenance, and code enforcement
- Working knowledge of building construction practices and basic structural concepts
- Knowledge of minimum housing, property maintenance, sign, fire, and related municipal codes
- Ability to interpret and apply ordinances consistently and fairly
- Ability to deal tactfully and firmly with the public while enforcing codes and ordinances
- Ability to prepare clear written reports and present findings effectively
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned inspections efficiently
- Ability to work up to 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma; coursework or training in building inspection, code enforcement, construction, engineering, planning, or a related field is preferred
- Customer service or public‑facing experience
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license

The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Operates a computer, laptop/iPad, motor vehicle, calculator, phone, printer/scanner, digital camera, etc.
DRUG TESTING
