Join our team as a Wastewater Operator/Trainee and become a vital part of maintaining clean, safe, and efficient water treatment processes. The Municipal Authority of the Borough of Baden is seeking a dedicated Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to help run and maintain our 2.0 MGD extended aeration activated sludge facility, including aerobic digestion, centrifuge for sludge dewatering, and one pump station. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop technical skills in wastewater treatment operations, mechanical maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting. This is a full-time position that requires rotating weekends, holidays and on-call responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment systems, including water quality analysis and data collection.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment such as pumps, valves, tanks, and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Support maintenance activities including equipment repair, plumbing and mechanical tasks, and heavy equipment operation as needed.
- Collect and record operational data accurately for reporting and process adjustments.
- Operate Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to effectively manage treatment processes.
- Perform basic math calculations for chemical dosing, flow rates, and other operational parameters.
- Assist with construction projects or upgrades related to wastewater treatment collection system while adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform equipment repairs
- Familiarity with wastewater treatment processes, wastewater treatment standards, and environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting data from sensors, meters, and control systems
- Ability to safely operate heavy machinery.
- Basic plumbing skills for maintenance and troubleshooting of piping systems.
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for process automation.
- Physical ability for heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and performing manual tasks in all weather conditions.
- Good communication skills for documenting procedures, reporting issues, and collaborating with team members.
- **Class B license and collection license are Desired but not required. Obtaining a Class B license and collection license is expected within the first year of employment.
Pay: $24.58 - $29.60 per hour
