MAC is seeking a motivated Accounting Specialist to join our team. This entry-level role serves as a launchpad into a long-term career track with multiple paths for professional advancement. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, highly self-motivated professional who can master complex accounting systems quickly and possesses the communication skills necessary to bridge the gap between technical accounting and non-accountant audiences.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare Monthly Financial Reports for assigned clients in strict compliance with GASB accounting standards and established deadlines
• Conduct analysis and present findings to Directors during monthly board meetings
• Post deposits/receipts and reconcile bank statements for all funds monthly
• Reconcile accounts receivables and ensure the accurate coding of accounts payable
• Prepare annual operating budgets and develop long-term cash flow forecasts for clients
• Process payroll and prepare quarterly (941s) and annual filings (W-2s, W-3s, 940s, 1099s)
• Facilitate the closing of bond issues and track/disburse funds as needed
• Correspond in a timely manner with clients, auditors, engineers, developers, attorneys, financial advisors, and other consultants
• Maintain accuracy and timeliness in all deliverables during month-end closes and audit season
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 0–3 years of accounting experience (recent graduates welcome)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage competing deadlines and work under pressure
• Ability to remain calm and detail-focused in high-volume, time-sensitive situations
• Willingness to learn new accounting software and tools quickly
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software a plus
• Comfort with public speaking and presenting to non-accountant audiences preferred
