As the Building Maintenance Technician at Purdue University, you will oversee and manage third-party vendors performing contracted facility services while also handling minor maintenance tasks to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the buildings and their systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with a strong background in facility maintenance and vendor management. You will act as the primary point of contact for the facility vendors and ensure all services meet Purdue University standards, budgets, and timelines. This position performs a variety of repair and maintenance duties on building structures and systems for Operations and Maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting, and locksmithing. You will respond to and prioritize work orders, troubleshoot to diagnose problems and determine repair or maintenance needs.
This position will be located at the Purdue Indianapolis campus.

Responsibilities
- Oversee third-party vendors performing facility services.
- Handle minor maintenance tasks across various trades including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Ensure compliance with Purdue University standards, budgets, and timelines.
- Manage and prioritize incoming work orders.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose building systems to identify repair or maintenance needs.
- High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE).
- Four (4) years of general maintenance work experience required.
- A valid US or Canadian driver's license.
- Basic knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Proficiency in basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, painting, plastering, and locksmith skills.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
- Effective communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
- Ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Experience working with diverse teams and backgrounds.
