The Role
The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking a Playschool Assistant Teacher to join our Youth Programs team. The Playschool Assistant Teacher supports the Playschool Lead Teacher in delivering a fun, safe, and enriching classroom experience for children ages 4. This role is primarily part-time (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–1:00pm) with the potential to transition to full-time based on availability. The Role

What You’ll Do
- Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing and implementing engaging classroom activities for 4-year-old children
- Provide a warm, safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
- Supervise children and support their social, emotional, and developmental growth
- Maintain accurate attendance records and classroom documentation
- Communicate observations regarding children’s development, progress, or behavioral needs with the Lead Teacher
- Model positive behavior and apply appropriate classroom management techniques
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Follow all safety guidelines and enforce program policies and procedures
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive and customer-focused environment
- Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and complete continuing education (minimum 16 hours annually)
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or at least one year of preschool classroom experience (preferred)
- CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Ability to lift and carry children up to 50 lbs
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
- Sound judgment, patience, and professionalism when working with children
- A genuine passion for early childhood development and fostering a love of learning
- Ability to support a classroom culture that values respect, inclusion, curiosity, and exploration
