What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer position at Multitech Industries Inc.?
The Quality Engineer is responsible for the overall quality performance of the business unit; defined by internal and external metrics, and compliance with customer and quality system requirements. This position reports to the Business Unit Manager with a dotted line to the Quality Manager/Director.
Responsibilities
- Maintain overall responsibility for Quality output – tracking, reporting on, and initiating improvement actions for scrap, defective PPM, and overall cost of poor quality.
- Leads weekly quality meetings with plant manager and other personnel to discuss quality performance, quality issues and corrective action implementation.
- Serve as customer/supplier liaison for facilitating problem resolution, technical support.
- Leads the Corrective Action Process, including containment and rapid response support, through root cause and implementation of countermeasures. Produces the completed corrective action report in company or customer format / portal.
- Participates in and performs Quality function tasks within the Quality Management System;
- APQP / PPAP activities, including preparing of PPAP data, reports.
- Engineering Changes
- Maintains revision-controlled quality documentation; control plans, PFMEA, process flow, inspection forms, work instructions, procedures, and other relevant documentation
- Calibration of measurement devices, MSA studies where applicable
- Non-conforming material and MRB disposition, Maintains Quality Hold Cage logs
- Maintains relevant company logs in real-time, reports out weekly/monthly
- Leads the sorting area; schedules & tracks throughputs, and allocates personnel where necessary
- Assists with part set up on the programmable metrology such as vision systems or CMM
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Engineering/Technical post-secondary education required. BS Engineering/Technical degree is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Automotive Industry required.
- Automotive (AIAG) Core Tools – PPAP/APQP, MSA, SPC, FMEA
- Strategic problem solving methodology
- General understanding of metal working processes
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing Techniques
RECOMMENDED ATTRIBUTES: Must be detail oriented and technically inclined. Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must pass physical exam by a physician of our choice. Verbal written and visual activities required.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to normal conditions encountered while driving a motor vehicle in city, suburban, and rural areas. Normal air conditioned office environment. Exposure to Fork truck exhaust, metal manufacturing, and cleaning compounds/agents in the shop.
