Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CPA with a strong background in preparing, reviewing, and finalizing complex individual and business tax returns. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and confident in navigating multistate tax issues. This full-time position allows you to work with a diverse client base in a collaborative and professional environment.
Compensation
$85,000 - $125,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex individual (Form 1040) and business tax returns, including partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and fiduciary returns
- Analyze multistate tax implications and ensure compliance with state and local regulations
- Conduct tax research and provide recommendations based on current laws and regulations
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, explain tax positions, and provide guidance
- Identify tax-saving opportunities and support proactive tax planning strategies
- Maintain accurate, organized documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
- Assist with responses to federal and state notices and audits as needed
- Stay current on tax law changes, industry best practices, and regulatory updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited university
- Active CPA license (Montana preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing complex individual and business tax returns
- Strong knowledge of federal and multistate tax laws
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently or collaboratively
- Elevated level of accountability and ownership over work quality
Preferred:
- Experience with Excel and Drake Tax software
