The Tool & Die Engineer is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of tooling, fixtures, dies, gauges, and manufacturing support equipment used in the production of nuclear power generation components. This position supports manufacturing operations by developing robust tooling solutions that ensure product quality, process repeatability, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The Tool & Die Engineer works closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support production, resolve technical issues, and improve manufacturing performance in a highly regulated environment.

Essential Responsibilities and Basic Duties

Tooling & Fixture Design

  • Design tooling, fixtures, dies, jigs, gauges, and manufacturing aids.
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation.
  • Support tooling implementation, validation, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Evaluate tooling performance and recommend improvements.

Manufacturing Support

  • Provide technical support to production operations.
  • Troubleshoot tooling and manufacturing issues.
  • Assist with process improvement, setup reduction, and productivity initiatives.
  • Support new product introduction and manufacturing readiness activities.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure tooling designs support quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain tooling documentation and configuration control.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing performance.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience considered.

Experience

  • 5 years of tooling, fixture design, tool & die, or manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting precision machining and manufacturing operations.
  • Strong CAD and technical drawing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with ASME, NQA-1, or quality management systems.
  • Experience supporting CNC machining and precision manufacturing environments.

Technical Skills

  • GD&T and blueprint interpretation
  • CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)
  • Tooling and fixture design
  • Root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Manufacturing process improvement

Nuclear Safety & Quality Expectations

Employees in this position are expected to support the Company's commitment to nuclear safety culture, quality assurance, procedural compliance, and regulatory requirements.

Employees have the authority and responsibility to identify quality concerns, stop work when necessary, and escalate issues that may impact safety, compliance, product quality, or customer requirements.

Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
