What are the responsibilities and job description for the AVID Tutor - Temporary - 26-27SY position at Multiple Locations?
AVID Tutor | Multiple Locations | Temporary
Hillsboro School District high schools and middle schools are seeking current college students to tutor AVID students. The AVID Elective Class helps first-generation and underrepresented students prepare for success in college and careers.
The AVID Tutor facilitates small group Tutorials, which is an activity that occurs during the school day. Tutorials are an important part of the AVID curriculum which has been shown to significantly increase academic achievement, improve rates of graduation, and increase college-going rates. AVID Tutoring is excellent preparation for any role in education and is part of the student teaching experience at some local university teacher preparation programs.
Time commitment would only be a few hours a week. Please note that this is a very part-time position. Days of the week may vary due to school schedules, but we are looking for Tues-Thurs availability and scheduling. Attempts will be made to match the applicant’s schedule with AVID Elective Class schedules, and some training will be provided.
