TITLE:     Classroom Teacher – Music and Band Teacher - Long Term Substitute -Elementary

REPORTS TO AND IS EVALUATED BY:  Building Principal and Subject Supervisor

AVAILABLE:  August 2026 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Long Term Substitute for 26/27 school year, Full-time, 10-month work year. Salary in accordance with PEA Collective Bargaining Agreement  FLSA exempt.

DESCRIPTION:  Pennridge seeks a music teacher to implement the elementary music and instructional curriculum as well as perform all the duties of an elementary instrumental band teacher

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: The elementary music teacher is responsible for teaching music education to students. Individuals in this role help pupils grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences, including: singing, moving to music, listening, and playing of instruments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work cooperatively with the principal, subject supervisors and other staff members to develop an integrated educational program for children.
2. Assess the attitudes, skills and abilities of children for effective teaching and learning each marking period as well as on an annual basis.
3. Provide meaningful, appropriate learning experiences for assigned groups of children, including differentiated instruction, to meet individual needs of children.
4. Properly refer to the MTSS process those children experiencing unusual difficulties.
5. Effectively implement IEP’s and the 504 plan of identified children using the resources that are provided.
6. Maintain a plan book as directed by the principal and submit plan book for review upon request. Have daily plans readily available for the use of a substitute in the event of absence.
7. Evaluate and record children’s progress and attendance as a basis for planning and reporting to parents.
8. Maintain acceptable standards of discipline in the classroom which promotes learning and supports the school-wide discipline plans.
9. Provide immediate care and protect injured students until the services of nurse or other medical personnel are available. Follow building’s safety-emergency management plan.
10. Perform additional supervision duties such as lunchroom, bus, or recess as required.
11. Maintain and extend professional knowledge and skills through activities such as graduate study, participation in staff development, professional reading and other appropriate activities as defined in the District’s Act 48 Plan.
12. Support school programs and maintain a high standard of ethical professional conduct when dealing with associates, parents and other members of the community.
13. Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Pennsylvania Certification in Music Education 
• Elementary Education/Content Area Certification is preferred
