What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solder Repair Tech / Assembly - 1st Shift (6am to 2:30pm-Mon thru Fri) position at Multilink?
The solder repair repairs circuit boards which fail at test or are otherwise not functioning due to not meeting IPC acceptable criteria. The technician will also participate in prepping sub-assemblies for the Power Department, which includes prepping and soldering wires.
Responsibilities:
- Reworks surface mount and thru-hole components that may be incorrect, damaged, or unacceptable
- Preps and solders wires on sub-assemblies required for top-assembly products within the Power Department
- Perform electrical and mechanical assembly work, which is of larger sizes and higher complexity
- Assemble products based on information translated from job orders, work instructions, procedures, drawings, and wiring diagrams
- Reads PCB schematics and assembly drawings
- Familiar with solder tooling such as soldering irons, hot air rework tools, et cetera
- Familiar with fundamental functions of various electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, and more
- Selects appropriate solder, flux, and tooling for each unique product per customer specifications
- Follows rework instructions from Quality Control and Engineering
- Collaborate with supervisor and test technicians to troubleshoot and repair units
- Maintains and clean and safe work area by participating in 5S practices
- All other responsibilities as assigned by management
Education and Experience:
- J-STD-001 certification
- Micro-elecromechanical Systems associate’s degree or higher
- Experience with ESD control program
- Strong reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, bill of materials and follow work instructions
- Understanding and support of company policies and procedures

- Lift, carry, push and or pull 1-50 lbs frequently.
- Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
- Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.
- High mental and visual activity while in coordination with manual dexterity for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
