Position Summary
Responsible for development and maintenance of programs that assess and mitigate clinical and general risk. Supervision of Risk Management team.
Essential Functions
- Plans, develops and implements a system-wide risk management program to identify and mitigate patient harm, assess and mitigate other risks faced by the organization.
- Identify and mitigate facility risks posing general liability exposure,
- In partnership with Quality Leadership, oversee and promote the system Communication and Resolution program
- Create and ensure risk manager event investigation, patient communication and documentation
- Develops and implements clinical risk management consulting services
- Fosters the development of strong working relations between local risk management with other departments, including but limited to: legal; quality; accreditation; patient safety; patient advocacy; business unit leaders and medical staff; compliance, and privacy and civil rights
- In concert with the VP of Risk, directs the development and delivery of medical malpractice prevention and patient safety education programs
- Leads the Risk Management teams system wide
- Works with Claims Managers to respond to litigation against MultiCare including gathering documents, scheduling witnesses and other related tasks.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field required
- Master's Degree or Juris Doctorate (JD) preferred
- Ten (10) years of experience in risk management in a healthcare setting required
- Five (5) years of experience in managerial or supervisory capacity
- Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred
