Job Summary
As Branch Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead your branch, shape the member experience, and make a direct impact on its success. You will oversee daily branch operations, coach and support your team, build strong member relationships, and serve as the branch’s primary loan officer.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading from the front, taking ownership, solving problems, and staying closely connected to both members and team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Branch Leadership and Operations
- Oversee the daily operation of the branch, including opening and closing procedures, teller activity, cash controls, balancing, security, and member service.
- Provide daily direction, coaching, training, and support to branch team members.
- Address member concerns and resolve operational issues professionally and promptly.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive branch environment.
Lending Responsibilities
- Serve as the branch’s primary loan officer.
- Accept, review, process, and underwrite consumer loan applications within established lending authority and credit union guidelines.
- Clearly communicate loan decisions, terms, documentation requirements, and next steps to members.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen member relationships through appropriate lending and credit union services.
- Ensure lending decisions are consistent, well-documented, and compliant with fair-lending requirements.
Member Service and Business Development
- Build lasting relationships with members and provide responsive, respectful, and solutions-focused service.
- Educate members about credit union products and services based on their individual needs.
- Lead by example by remaining visible and actively involved in daily member service.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure branch activities follow credit union policies, internal controls, security procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor branch activity for potential fraud, suspicious transactions, operational concerns, and policy exceptions.
- Complete required reports, audits, reviews, and corrective actions accurately and on time.
Education and Expertise
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least two years of banking, credit union, or related financial-services experience required.
- Previous consumer lending or loan-processing experience strongly preferred.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of branch operations, member service, cash handling, and financial products.
- Strong judgment, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coach team members, address performance concerns, and handle difficult member situations professionally.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment where the Branch Manager regularly assists members and supports daily branch activity.
