Assistant Athletic Trainer - Rochester Americans

Summary:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer collaborates with all members of the Rochester Americans Hockey Department including the performance staff to provide athletic training and rehabilitation services. This position does not regularly travel with the team, only when necessary. An ideal candidate will be an early career professional with 1-3 years’ experience with a hockey background or an experienced athletic trainer looking to work within hockey for the first time. 

 Duties & Responsibilities:

• Reports to and collaborates with Head Athletic Trainer to implement athletic training services and rehabilitation protocols to Rochester Americans players
• Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff to design and implement performance and return to play protocols
• Communicate with Head Athletic Trainer and team doctors on status of athletes during treatment, including return to play status
• Assist with the evaluation of athletes injured during games and practices, including on the bench and on ice as needed
• Assist in coordinating with players during the offseason including implementing rehab/prehab protocols and help with offsite treatments as needed
• Keep up to date comprehensive electronic medical records. Assist with other administrative recordkeeping including uploading notes, dissemination of injury reports.
• Assist in the maintenance and management of the athletic training facilities, equipment, supplies, inventory, and cleaning to reduce risk of infection
• Remain current with AHL medical standards of practice, concussion protocols, and continuing education BOC requirements
• Assist equipment managers with packing and unpacking equipment from team bus when needed
• Responsible for player transportation to and from doctor appointments when needed
• Travel with the team when needed
• Maintain the upmost confidentiality
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications for the Position:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training
• One (1) to three (3) years of athletic training experience 
• Current NATABOC certification and New York State licensure or eligibility to obtain
• Must have effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment alongside other allied medical professionals
• Ability to travel with the team, working extended hours including nights, weekends, and holiday as required

 Compensation:

• This role will pay between $62,353.20 - $67,500 annually. Note: Wages will be determined based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skill set and internal equity.
