What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professional Pet Groomer position at Mullins Veterinary Hospital?
Responsibilities:
- Perform bathing, brushing, haircuts, shave-downs, nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression
- Groom pets according to breed standards and client requests
- Safely restrain and handle pets in a low-stress manner
- Monitor pets for signs of skin issues, parasites, injuries, or medical concerns and communicate findings to veterinary staff
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of grooming areas, kennels, and equipment
- Keep accurate grooming notes and communicate professionally with clients
- Manage grooming schedule efficiently while maintaining quality of care
- Ensure pets are comfortable and safe throughout the grooming process
Requirements:
- At minimum 1-2 years of experience out of school or professionally trained.
- Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have strong communication skills
- Must possess love of animals and patience when handling pets
- Displays a professional manner at all times
- Upbeat and positive personality
- Dependable and has reliable transportation
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
