Key Responsibilities
- Operate different types of cranes (e.g., tower cranes, mobile cranes, overhead cranes) to move heavy materials.
- Inspect cranes and lifting equipment before use to ensure they are in proper working condition.
- Follow safety procedures and load limits to prevent accidents or equipment damage.
- Interpret load charts, blueprints, and work orders to determine lifting requirements.
- Communicate with ground personnel and signalers using hand signals, radios, or other methods.
- Perform routine maintenance and report any mechanical issues.
- Secure loads properly using slings, hooks, chains, and other rigging equipment.
- Work in coordination with other construction and logistics teams to complete tasks efficiently.
- Adhere to site-specific and regulatory safety standards, including OSHA guidelines.
- Valid crane operator certification (such as NCCCO or equivalent).
- Experience operating cranes in a construction or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of load limits, safety regulations, and rigging techniques.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members.
- May work in construction sites, warehouses, ports, or industrial facilities.
- Often exposed to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and heights.
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, and safety harnesses.
