Mullens Marking is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support our roadway and pavement marking operations. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations across multiple states, with a strong emphasis on DOT compliance, field safety support, regulatory oversight, and claims management.
The ideal candidate will have experience in construction or roadway operations, strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively with field teams to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
Safety Program Administration
- Work with the EHS team to develop safety and health programs and training initiatives.
- Assist in implementing effective metrics to track progress, identify areas of concern, and drive accountability.
- Implement safety programs and ensure compliance across multiple states.
- Deliver safety and health training to employees and field personnel.
- Conduct jobsite inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and site-specific safety plans.
- Coach field crews and supervisors on safe work practices.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for incidents as needed.
DOT Compliance (Primary Focus)
- Maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files, including MVRs and medical certifications.
- Manage DOT drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Ensure compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) and ELD requirements.
- Support DOT audits and compliance reviews.
- Track and maintain vehicle inspections and maintenance records.
Multi-State Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, and state-specific compliance in MD, VA, NC, KY, and TN.
- Maintain safety records, logs, postings, and documentation per jurisdictional requirements.
Training & Field Support
- Deliver workplace safety training including:
- Traffic Control Training
- First Aid/CPR
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction & General Industry
- Support crews in the field and reinforce safe operating procedures.
Incident & Claims Management
- Investigate workplace incidents and determine root causes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
- Assist with Workers' Compensation, Auto, General Liability, and Property Damage claims management.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of safety experience in construction, roadway, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry standards.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with traffic control practices and procedures.
- Experience writing policies, procedures, and SOPs preferred.
- Trainer certifications are preferred.
- Experience working in Construction and General Industry environments preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and software-based systems/applications.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel (10%) as required.
