Director of Operations

As the organization continues to grow and scale production to meet increasing market demand, they are seeking a Director of Operations who is energized by mission-driven work and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This leader will oversee vendor management, production planning, inventory, logistics, and operational excellence initiatives that ensure product quality, cost efficiency, and scalable growth.
A day in the life:
Manufacturing & Production Oversight
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations across internal sites and global contract manufacturers
- Manage end-to-end production flow including scheduling, forecasting, inventory management, and logistics
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality management systems
- Establish and monitor KPI dashboards for production performance, and cost targets
Vendor & External Partner Management
- Own relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers, including contract negotiation, price management, and performance evaluation
- Optimize lead times, capacity, and supply continuity across multi-site and offshore manufacturing models
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma or comparable methodologies
- Identify and implement opportunities for efficiencies, waste reduction, and cost savings
- Partner with Engineering and Quality to refine processes, improve manufacturability, and resolve production issues proactively
Capacity Scaling & Strategic Planning
- Develop and execute a scalable manufacturing strategy aligned with forecasted demand
- Assess capacity, technology needs, and operational constraints; propose solutions to support growth
- Lead scenario planning for demand surges, new product introduction, and global supply disruptions
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Foster a collaborative, non-hierarchical culture grounded in open communication and shared problem-solving
- Serve as a diplomatic, relationship-driven leader who effectively bridges teams and aligns stakeholders
- Model a solutions-oriented mindset focused on balancing production realities with customer expectations
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations within medical devices or similarly complex, regulated production environments
- Experience in both small, agile organizations and larger-scale manufacturing environments
- Successful record leading both internal manufacturing and contract manufacturing partners
- Experience overseeing global, multi-site, and offshore production models
- Strong knowledge of quality, compliance, and regulatory standards for medical device production
- Success driving process improvements, operational efficiency, and cost reductions
- Proven ability to manage complex production flows, scheduling, inventory, and logistics
- Skilled in negotiation, vendor management, and external partner oversight
- Collaborative leadership style; ability to excel in a flat, mission-driven organization
Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
