This is a full time, 260 day per year Assistant Director III of Technology Supports position at the District Office. This position includes benefits and is open until filled.  

 

JOB TITLE:                         Assistant Director III, Technology Supports

 

CLASSIFICATION:             Central Office Administration

 

REPORTS TO:                    Chief Technology Officer

 

JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Technology Support is responsible for the support of technology support functions and administrative processes. The Assistant Director leads staff, manages budgets, manages projects, oversees acquisition and implementation of hardware, software, and other resources selected to promote teaching and learning, and operations.

 

The Assistant Director position ensures the district’s commitment to equity is integrated into all facets of technology and support design, implementation, supervision of staff and support to ensure student and staff success.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages assigned areas of responsibility in a manner that promotes achievement of district and departmental goals, and complies with federal, state, and local requirements including district policies/procedures and applicable collective bargaining agreements;
  • Develops and manages budgets, including contributing to the development of the district technology levy budget and overseeing subsequent expenditures as assigned;
  • Responsible for endpoint lifecycle management, service desk operations, field support, and related systems;
  • Hires, supervises, develops, and evaluates Technology Services Support staff (e.g., Field Technicians, Service Desk, hourly staff) to deliver high-quality service and response;
  • Recruits, trains, and supports school-based Computer Specialists (stipend positions), ensuring consistent service delivery and alignment with district standards and expectations;
  • Provides leadership for assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring alignment with district and departmental goals and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, district policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements;
  • Ensures team alignment to the district strategic plan, particularly as it relates to technology support.;
  • Ensures technology support operations are aligned with the district’s strategic plan and contribute to improved teaching, learning, and organizational efficiency;
  • Participates as a team member and actively supports the efforts of the Technology Services Leadership Team;
  • Uses regularly scheduled staff meetings to develop and maintain a strong team with awareness of team goals and knowledge of team progress towards goals;
  • Facilitates regular staff meetings to communicate priorities, monitor progress toward goals, and strengthen team cohesion and accountability;
  • Implements and maintains industry standard project management practices, including the use of standardized tools and documentation to track progress and ensure timely completion of initiatives.
  • Work directly with vendors to troubleshoot issues, develop solutions, and manage service agreements related to support operations.
  • Implements and maintains the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) structure as a member of the Technology Services Leadership team.
  • Administer systems and processes related to incident management, asset management, and device and software management; monitor work order queues and service-level performance and determine appropriate staff assignments and escalation paths for systemic issues.
  • Represents the district at local, regional, and national technology meetings and participates in out-of-district committees and networks focused on technology.
  • Maintains consistent attendance and conforms to regular work hours specified under contract.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of K-12 public school systems.
  • Knowledge of customer service practices and supporting learning using technology.
  • Knowledge of related federal and state laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Skills in hiring, managing, supervising, coaching, and evaluating staff.
  • Skills in continuous improvement, project management, and budget management.
  • Skills in productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe, work order applications).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district staff, community, outside vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of constituents both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to work in a team, as well as independently. 
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain trust and confidentiality. 
  • Ability to demonstrate effective cross-cultural communication skills and culturally responsive practices.
  • Ability to identify and address personal, cultural, and institutional bias.
  • Ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to reflect and take feedback to improve practice and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years of technology or educational support experience.
  • Administrative experience in a public-school setting preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable training preferred.
  • Student cultural and economic diversity experience preferred.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds, preferred.
