Assistant Manager (Weekend & Holiday Lead), Mugby Coffee

Mugby is a friendly little drive-through in Winona that’s all about damn good coffee, fair prices, and friendly faces. Our beans are roasted right here in town, and our regulars know us by name. We’re looking for a Lead to help us keep it that way specifically on weekends and holidays. (We are closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day)

Mugby is a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Most of Winona relies on us to get their day started, and as our Lead, you’ll take on that responsibility. It’s fast, it’s fun, and our regulars are some of the friendliest people in town, so the shifts fly by. But it’s a real job with real stakes. When the line is wrapped around the stand on a Saturday morning, the whole team looks to you to keep things moving and keep it friendly. If you love that kind of energy, you’ll feel right at home.

This is a Lead role, not just a barista role

We want to be upfront about this. You’ll make drinks, but that’s not the job. The job is running the shift: setting the pace, keeping the line moving, and making sure the person in the window and the person in the car both have a great experience. What you’ll do

• Be our weekend and holiday lead. Weekends and holidays are our busiest stretches, and you’ll be the person in charge of them.
• Cover call-ins. When someone can’t make a shift, you’re the first call. You’ll help find coverage or step in yourself, and keep the shift on track either way.
• Open and close the stand, including the cash drawer, deposits, and end-of-shift checklists.
• Coach and train baristas, and give friendly, honest feedback.
• Keep drink quality, speed, and cleanliness where we want them.
• Help with scheduling, menu changes, inventory counts, and restocking.
• Handle customer issues calmly and make them right.

Who we’re looking for

• Someone who is available year-round. This role only works if you’re here during the holidays and off-season. We’ll plan around the usual life stuff, and everyone can request time off, but we’re not hiring this position for a season or a semester.
• Someone who is dependable, steady under pressure, and can keep a team calm when the line is ten cars deep.
• Someone who enjoys coaching people more than just working alongside them.
• Prior coffee, food service, or supervisory experience is great. A history of being the person people lean on is just as good.
• Comfortable with cash handling and a POS system. We’ll teach you the rest.
• Weekend and holiday availability is required. Early mornings are a way of life here.
