SUMMARY: Direct, coordinate and supervise activities in production and maintenance engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, maintaining machinery and equipment, fabricating metal parts and tools, and in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems. Support engineering activities. Enforce company policy utilizing the contract agreements with the local unions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage and lead all plant and maintenance employees. Maintain production standards at all times. Oversee all quality and safety forms are completed correctly. Incorporate LEAN/5S manufacturing. Responsible for continuous improvements and cost reduction.
Create and assign dispatches in L2L. Track repair progress and follow up by having the team close the dispatch.
Order parts for machinery as needed.
Review job orders to determine work priorities.
Schedule repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations. Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and material.
Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
Interpret company policies for workers and enforce safety regulations, including lockout/tagout, confined spaces, hot work permits, and maintenance tool room safety (i.e, drill presses, grinders, bandsaws, etc..)
Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules. Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A solid mechanical or electrical background is a plus.
