Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Tow Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely towing and transporting vehicles, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring efficient operations. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to handle various towing equipment, including flatbeds. The Tow Truck Driver plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and satisfaction of our clients while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
Duties
- Operate tow trucks, including flatbed and other specialized vehicles, to recover and transport vehicles safely.
- Load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or other lifting devices.
- Conduct basic automotive diagnostics and mechanical assessments to determine the best towing approach.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting clients professionally during stressful situations.
- Manage conflict resolution effectively when dealing with distressed or upset customers.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on tow trucks to ensure optimal operation.
- Document all towing activities accurately in company logs and reports.
- Follow all safety protocols during vehicle recovery operations to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Assist with vehicle repairs or mechanical troubleshooting as needed, leveraging automotive repair knowledge.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with clean driving record.
- Experience operating tow trucks, particularly flatbed models, is highly preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive diagnostics and repair is advantageous.
- Familiarity with manual transmissions and automotive systems.
- Ability to load & unload vehicles safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or winches.
- Strong driving skills, including experience with commercial driving regulations.
- Knowledge of conflict management techniques to handle difficult customer interactions professionally.
- Mechanic experience or automotive repair background is a plus.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks safely.
