Position Overview
Mudflats Bar & Grill at Barnacles Resort is looking for an energetic, guest-focused Bartender/Server to join our lakeside team on beautiful Mille Lacs Lake. In this dual role you will mix craft cocktails and pour cold drafts behind the bar while also delivering exceptional table service in our casual, welcoming dining room. You will report directly to the Working Restaurant Manager and play a key part in creating memorable experiences for resort guests and local regulars alike.
Key Responsibilities
Bar Operations
- Prepare and serve beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and guest preferences
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar station throughout each shift
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and follow responsible service guidelines (e.g., TIPS/ServSafe Alcohol)
- Track and report bar inventory; communicate restocking needs to the manager
Table Service
- Greet and seat guests warmly, present menus, and guide guests through food and drink selections
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them promptly into the POS system
- Deliver orders, check on guest satisfaction, and anticipate needs throughout the dining experience
- Process payments accurately and efficiently
Guest Experience & Teamwork
- Foster a friendly, welcoming atmosphere consistent with the Barnacles Resort brand
- Communicate openly with kitchen staff and the manager to ensure smooth, timely service
- Handle guest questions, requests, and concerns professionally; escalate issues to the manager as needed
- Support fellow team members during rushes and assist with opening/closing side work
- Participate in special events, resort promotions, and peak-season operations
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 1 year of bartending or serving experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Knowledge of classic cocktails, beer styles, and wine basics
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays — especially during the busy summer season
- Strong communication skills and a guest-first attitude
- Ability to stand for extended periods and carry trays in a fast-paced environment
- Must be 18 years of age or older (21 preferred for full bar service per MN law)
Preferred
- TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol, or equivalent responsible-service certification
- Experience with POS systems (e.g., Toast, Square, or similar)
- Resort or high-volume seasonal hospitality experience
- Genuine enthusiasm for lake-life culture and creating a warm, social atmosphere
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting at $12 per hour
- Tips earned while working bartender or server shifts
