What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Muddy Creek Pediatrics?
This position is a full-time position for medical assistant in a pediatric setting. Hours will vary as the clinic is open Monday - Saturday.
- Participate in clinical department training programs for new and existing staff.
- Attend Clinical Staff meetings as scheduled.
- Provide support through problem solving within the clinical setting and coordination of care with the Clinical team including but not limited to review of patient care records for huddle, verbal, written, and electronic methods of communication with the Clinical Team.
- Prepare patients for office visits such as assessing patient care needs, obtaining necessary history and vital signs, collect completed forms, surveys, and/or questionnaires, and completing medical record documentation in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Upon physician order, administer medication and give immunizations to patients.
- Assist providers and other clinical staff with exams, procedures, immunizations, and other medical treatments necessary. May also perform the duties of a medical scribe as periodically assigned.
- Educates patient / family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness under the provider’s direction or the use of standing orders.
- Perform all in house specimen collection and/or in house waived diagnostic testing such as lipid screen, Group A strep and Flu tests, urine dipstick, A1C and Hgb tests, vision and hearing screening tests.
- Process and track referrals to outside specialists or service providers.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement by assisting in implementing quality improvement action plans.
- Provide support and back up to medical assistant and providers in the clinic to ensure quality and efficient patient care delivery.
- Manage inventory of vaccines and medical supplies in a cost effecting and efficient manner as requested by the Clinical Nurse Manager.
- Clean and stock all work areas and examination rooms with necessary supplies and keep walls, chairs, floors, counter tops, and sinks clean and free of dirt and debris.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and patient privacy in accordance with MCP policies and procedures.
- Participate and abide by all standards, policies and procedures as they may relate to the safety of patients, visitors, and/or employees of MCP.
