Compensation:
- Base Pay Range:
- Surgery Tech: $23.66 - $37.37 per hour, based on experience
- Special Pay:Additional $2.50 per hour untilJune 27, 2026
- Shift Differentials:Additional $2 per hour evenings/nights/weekends
- Retention Rewards:Up to $15,000
- Relocation Support:Additional $5,000 if moving from over 50 miles away
- Retention Reward (Option 1):$2,000 per year for up to 5 years, totaling $10,000
- Student Loan Repayment (Option 2):$2,000 per year toward student loans, up to 5 years, totaling $10,000

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
- Assist with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists; Serve as a role model to new employees and other staff members.
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians; Adherence to standards including but not limited to unit and hospital policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals.
- Competent at the unit level.
- Demonstrate appropriate and correct case preparation.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure the team maintains a sterile environment independently. Apply basic knowledge of instrumentations to several cases. Correct any deficiencies at the case level.
- Perform technical duties involving care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms to provide a safe and effective environment.
- May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
- One (1) year of experience as a surgical technologist; or completion of an accredited surgical tech program, the MU Health Care Surgical Tech program, or military training may be substituted for the experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Training and experience in all areas of specialty and Trauma (Level I) call.
- Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
