Excavation Foreman
MTX Excavation – Missoula, MT
MTX Excavation is seeking an experienced Excavation Foreman to lead field crews on residential, commercial, and municipal projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can manage job sites, operate equipment when needed, and keep projects moving efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise excavation crews on active job sites.
- Coordinate daily tasks, schedules, and workflow to ensure projects stay on track.
- Read and interpret plans, specs, grades, and site layouts.
- Operate heavy equipment as needed (excavators, dozers, loaders, etc.).
- Ensure all work is completed to company standards and project specifications.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients.
- Monitor job site safety and enforce safety procedures.
- Problem-solve in real time and make decisions to keep work progressing without delays.
- Oversee equipment usage, daily inspections, and basic maintenance.
- Track materials, crew productivity, and job progress.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an excavation foreman or lead operator.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, utilities, and site development.
- Ability to read blueprints, elevations, and grade stakes.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a crew.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with GPS machine control preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license required
