Heavy Machinery Operator – Balance & Grinding (Engine Module Assembly)
Your tasks
- Operate balance machines, grinding machines, and associated tooling to support engine module assembly processes in accordance with approved work instructions and manuals.
- Set up, adjust, and monitor machines to achieve required balance, surface finish, and dimensional tolerances.
- Interpret technical documentation, work plans, drawings, and balance/grinding specifications to execute assigned tasks correctly.
- Perform in‑process checks using precision measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) to verify compliance with specifications.
- Document completed work, measurements, and results accurately to ensure full traceability and compliance with quality requirements.
- Identify, report, and escalate deviations, out‑of‑tolerance conditions, or equipment abnormalities to supervision, Quality, or Engineering as required.
- Ensure proper handling, protection, and storage of engine modules and components to prevent damage or contamination.
- Conduct routine machine care, basic troubleshooting, and housekeeping activities in accordance with 6S and EHS standards.
- Comply with all FAA regulations, Repair Station Quality Manual requirements, OEM standards, and MTU internal procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to process stability, quality, safety, and efficiency within the module assembly area.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Technical education, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands‑on experience in machining, industrial manufacturing, or mechanical assembly.
- Experience operating balance machines, grinding machines, or similar precision industrial equipment (aerospace or comparable regulated industry preferred).
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, work instructions, and engineering documentation. Proficiency in the use of precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, quality mindset, and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work in a team‑based, production‑driven environment and follow standardized processes.
- Experience in aircraft engine module assembly or aerospace MRO environments.
- Familiarity with FAA, EASA, or OEM aerospace quality standards.
- Experience with ERP or digital production documentation systems (e.g., SAP).
- Prior exposure to balancing processes for rotating components or modules.
