Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Mechatronics Engineer II join our Marine Team in Kennesaw, GA. The Mechatronics Engineer II will help lead the development of integrated boat control systems for powerboats, in addition to evaluating existing products and developing new products from proof of concept through start of production.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the development and testing of boat control systems HW and firmware
- Design of specifications for evaluation of new products from proof of concept through final design
- Develop and maintain component, product, and process specifications for new products
- Identify, collaborate, and mange outside vendors
- Technical interface to product planning department (turn dreams into reality)
- Technical support to suppliers and factories
- Interface with testing team and QA for on-water testing and verification of product performance.
- Automation of data collection and analysis systems
What you will need to be successful:
- ABET accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 1-3 years working experience as an engineering team member is required
- Experience with ROS and ROS2
- Marine Industry Experience or Knowledge is preferred
- Understanding of sub-systems, sensors and actuators, and automotive/marine communication protocols
- Strong product development experience working with other engineers and outside partners
- Experience collaborating with other cross-functional teams to integrate software and hardware systems
- Understanding of serial communication protocols (USB, I2C, CAN, SPI, etc.)
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project)
- Must be able to adapt to different cultures
- Must have strong communication skills
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and control systems preferred
- Experience with CAN, development, and debugging tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, etc.) Preferred
- Familiarity with high assurance development practices and tools (ISO-26262, MISRA C/C , etc.) Preferred
- Understanding of robotics systems and communication protocols is highly desired.
