Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Marine Product Manager join our Marine Team in Kennesaw, GA. The Marine Product Manager is a critical role responsible for product – from concept to creation, commercialization, and even discontinuation. To be successful, the product manager leverages product expertise and market knowledge to create a product portfolio that is both customer-centric and accretive to the business bottom line.
What you’ll be doing:
- Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the product category – understanding its use and application(s)
- Be the market expert for the product category – understanding the market segmentation, needs, size, decision making factors, price points, and trends. Conduct market visits (boat builders, dealers, end-users, boat & technology shows / conferences, etc.) as necessary to gain product use insights.
- Develop and maintain evidence-based business cases for products in order to seek business resources and prioritize product development. Develop and maintain a prioritized roadmap and lifecycle of products (including specifications and CTQs).
- Represent the voice of customer(s) to the Yamaha Marine Business. Initiate / participate in phase gate process and meetings to drive product development and coordinated marketing introduction
- Manage P&L for the product category – setting pricing, go to market strategy, ERP setup, training, etc. to run a successful business
- Know, understand, and provide leadership to internal and external stakeholders critical to the overall product process
- Performs other duties as required.
What you will need to be successful:
- High school diploma / GED (bachelor’s degree preferred)
- 2-5 years related experience
- Project Management (PMP) certification is a plus
- Agile development familiarity / certification is a plus
- Basic business and technical acumen – be inquisitive and not afraid to challenge the status quo
- Ability to gather and understand market data and needs - translate that data into business cases
- Computer skills typical to office environments – Microsoft Windows, Office, Adobe Acrobat
- Public speaking / presentation skills across all levels of business up to C-suite
- Tactically skilled yet strategic thinker who can achieve goals in an efficient and timely manner
- Supportive and enthusiastic team player who is a great communicator
