We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Telecommunications Groundman to join our skilled team of industry professionals. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, punctual, and eager to grow and learn within the telecommunications construction field. As a groundman, you will assist crews with the installation of fiber-optic cable (including aerial, underground, and structured wiring applications) while learning essential industry skills and job-site safety practices.
-Key Responsibilities-
- Assist linemen and crew members with the installation of fiber-optic cable, including aerial, underground, and structured cabling
- Support the setup and cleanup of job sites, including loading/unloading materials and equipment
- Handle tools, hardware, and materials safely and responsibly
- Help prepare and maintain work zones, including basic traffic control and site safety measures
- Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures at all times
- Assist with pulling cable, placing conduits, and preparing underground pathways
- Demonstrate professionalism and teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction
- Support inventory management by tracking tools, equipment, and materials used on job sites
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors, following instructions closely
- Learn and develop new skills to advance within the telecommunications construction industry
-Qualifications-
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation required
- Previous construction or utility experience preferred, but not required
- Interest in learning telecommunications construction, fiber installation, and industry safety standards
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50lbs or more
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to follow directions
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools
- OSHA 10 Certification and Confined Space Training preferred
- Punctual, responsible, and able to work effectively within a team
- Commercial trucks and tools are provided for all job-related work
