Salary Range: $53,000 – $81,000 annually
Role Overview
The Coding & Billing Auditor is responsible for performing comprehensive audits of provider documentation to ensure accurate assignment of ICD-10 and CPT codes. This role also involves educating providers and staff on coding standards, improving documentation quality, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit medical records for accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Analyze audit findings and prepare detailed reports
- Ensure coding aligns with clinical documentation
- Educate physicians and staff on coding guidelines and documentation
- Collaborate with Revenue Cycle leadership on process improvements
- Train new team members on coding standards and best practices
- Support performance evaluations and coding quality initiatives
Requirements
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – Mandatory
- Minimum 5 years of coding and auditing experience (inpatient/outpatient)
- Strong experience in professional physician coding
- Experience in multi-specialty coding preferred
- Associate Degree (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Strong communication skills with experience interacting with physicians
